Off Country – Call for Artist Submissions

To celebrate all the music genres and styles that are inspired by similar storytelling tradition as country music, Off-Country Music Series will run during Country Music Week (September 8 -11, 2022) and showcase approximately 50 acts in venues along the Music Mile and in surrounding venues in Calgary.

This is a paid performance opportunity. The majority of programming will prioritize Calgary-based artists, but we welcome any artists outside of Calgary to apply! Off Country will feature live music from artists who primarily perform country music on the fringes: Alt-Country, Americana, Roots, Singer-Songwriter, Blues, Rock, etc.

This opportunity is for acts who mostly perform original music and are emerging to mid-level in their careers.
All ages are welcome to apply as we will be programming an emerging artist showcase as well as presenting in some all-ages venues.

Help decide who will vie for $25,000 and major showcase opportunities

TORONTO – June 2, 2022 – SiriusXM Canada is inviting Canadians to help choose the next big star in country music as voting opens for the fourth annual SiriusXM Top of the Country competition, in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA). The public will decide which of the eight semi-finalists will make it to the final three, to perform at some of Canada’s biggest country music events, embark on an exclusive songwriting trip and compete for the grand prize of $25,000.

Tyler Joe Miller of Surrey, BC, solidified his place as one of Canada’s most loved country musicians when he was named the 2021 SiriusXM Top of the Country winner. “I have always loved performing and will be forever grateful for SiriusXM’s Top of the Country competition that gave me an opportunity to realize my dreams,” said Miller. “Having the support of Canadian music fans was exhilarating and I’ll never forget it.”

The 2022 SiriusXM Top of the Country semi-finalists are:

As part of developing the artists, SiriusXM took the semi-finalists into the studio to record their original song and create a behind the scenes video of the contestants. Beginning at 10 a.m. ET today through June 14, country lovers can watch the recordings and cast their votes daily for their favourite artist at siriusxm.ca/topcountry.

“Canada has a country music talent pool that is overflowing with potential and our eight semi-finalists all have star power,” said Jeff Leake, Director, Music, Podcasts & Listenership Analytics, SiriusXM Canada. “Country music fans are in for a treat as they discover some impressive talent and vote for their favourite new artists. Their support will help determine who will be fighting for the title of Canada’s next winner of SiriusXM’s Top of the Country.”

The three artists with the most votes will move to the final round and participate in exclusive mentorship sessions and showcases with industry leaders, a SOCAN songwriting trip and performance opportunities at some of Canada’s biggest music events.

The grand prize winner will be chosen during CCMA’s Country Music Week 2022 in Calgary, Alberta from September 8-11. The finalists will perform live at SiriusXM’s Top of the Country Finale, airing live on SiriusXM Canada, and will culminate with a soon-to-be-announced headline act making it one of the most exciting nights in Canadian country music!

Why does the CCMA have partner hotels?
The CCMA develops partnerships with hotels in the host city of Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards every year in order to offer CCMA Members the best price possible for their accommodations. In exchange, the partner hotels agree to reserve a number of rooms during the event for CCMA delegates and guests. Partner hotels are centrally located, making it easy to access Country Music Week events.

The countdown to Country Music Week 2022 is on!

FIRST BALLOT OF THE 2022 CCMA AWARDS PROGRAM OPENS TODAY

All eligible voting members of the CCMA will receive an email today, May 11, 2022, (email distribution begins at 10:00 a.m. ET), with voting log-in information.

The email will come “from” CCMA Awards, and the subject line will read 2022 CCMA Awards First Ballot Voting Site is Now Open.

If you are an eligible CCMA Member and you do not receive an email with a PIN and directions on how to log into the voting site by Friday, May 13, 2022, or should you experience any technical issues with the CCMA Awards voting site, please contact the Yangaroo/DMDS Customer Support Team directly at 1-866-992-9902 or [email protected]. The Yangaroo Customer Support Team is available from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.

The First Ballot will close Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Toronto, ON (March 23, 2022) — Today, SiriusXM Canada announced the eight semi-finalists for its fourth annual Top of the Country competition, where emerging artists compete to be named Canada’s next big country music star. Shining a spotlight on Canadian talent is a priority for SiriusXM, and in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA), this competition is the ultimate platform to do so. Opportunities to perform at some of the biggest country music events in Canada, a SOCAN songwriting camp, industry mentorships and $25,000, are up for grabs as they proceed to the next stage of the competition.

The next stage of the competition brings an exciting opportunity for the finalists to record their own original tracks and in-studio videos, which will be shared online for country music fans to vote for their favourites later this Spring. After the voting period is complete, three finalists will be selected to participate in industry mentorships and perform at various showcases, including Country Music Week 2022 in Calgary, Alberta this September, where the grand prize winner will be announced.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Executive Assistant / Office Coordinator, you are at the heart of our team’s business operations and activities and the soul that keeps the team moving forward. Reporting to the President, this role is responsible for providing administrative level support to the President’s Office and supporting the executive team.

A vital member of the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) team, the successful candidate will ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day operations of the CCMA Office.

This role requires a candidate who has strong organizational and diplomatic skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve a common goal. This role best suits an upbeat and flexible attitude and a desire to work in a small, fast-paced, not-for-profit office environment that demands a team player approach. Must be capable of occasionally working outside of regular business hours.

This entry-level full-time position is located in downtown Toronto.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position’s responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and organize the CCMA President’s schedule, including internal and external meetings
  • Ensures effective communication flow to and from the President’s Office
  • Book travel and accommodations for CCMA Staff and Board of Directors
  • Answering phone calls, redirecting calls and handling general inquiries with tact and diligence
  • Fulfill all administrative services and office management, including mass email distribution, letter mail processing, courier services, filing, printing, photocopying, managing and ordering supply inventory
  • Assists in grant preparation & reconciliation
  • Manage the Country Music Week schedule and any updates as directed by CCMA Staff
  • Responsible for the CCMA staff hotel block at Country Music Week
  • Provide bookkeeping support to the Head of Operation
  • Assist other staff members and perform other administrative duties as required
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in event or music business management or a combination of education and experience that would be considered equivalent, preferably in a not-for-profit or association environment
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines/turnaround times
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to coordinate a variety of event variables and communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge and ability in using business support processes and tools; i.e. Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel) and database entry systems
  • Will be required to travel to event locations across Canada
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy and distracting environment
  • Patience, energy and a sense of humour

Reporting to President, you will be driving the associations marketing strategy, leading the team to executing all aspects of the marketing department’s day to day initiatives translating business objectives into actionable marketing strategies. The ideal candidate is an Influential individual, extremely ambitious, and a creative professional hungry to make change and develop forward industry leading ideas that push boundaries and resonate with our audiences. In addition to being organized, analytical, strategic and resourceful, you must possess strong business judgment and communication skills needed to interact with a variety of people and job functions.

This is a high-impact role where you will be a key player in the decision-making process of our brand evolution, marketing execution, consumer growth, and business development. This role is both strategic and tactical, we’re therefore looking for someone who can wear different hats and thrives in such an environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The position’s primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels
  • Track and analyze the performance of campaigns, managing department budget and ensuring that all marketing material is in line with our brand identity
  • Collaborate with our sponsorship team and colleagues to translate partner KPIs into innovative effective concepts and ideas that align with our association objectives
  • Lead strategy and day to day operations of our consumer facing brand and e-commerce site ‘Live Country’
  • Prepare regular reporting of key performance metrics and communicate findings, figures, and insights
  • Prepare and monitor the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis and allocate funds wisely showing ROI of investment
  • Test learn tell with a variety of organic and paid acquisition channels like content creation, content curation, pay per click campaigns, event management, social media, lead generation campaigns, copywriting, performance analysis
  • Produce valuable and engaging content for our owned properties building a robust and engaged audience
  • Build strategic relationships and partner with key industry players, agencies, and vendors
  • Consistently working to develop and evolve processes within the department to best serve company and key stakeholders
  • Influence internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization to take action based on insights to capture business opportunities
  • Keep abreast of industry news, trends, and digital innovations, consistently sharing with stakeholders and applying where relevant

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years marketing strategy, content ideation experience, with proven experience building, executing, and scaling cross-functional marketing strategies
  • Creative thinker who takes initiative and is capable of building, launching, and managing projects and programs that drive results for our core business objectives
  • A sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty communication
  • BSc/MSc degree in Marketing or related field
  • Absolute passion for the digital space with deep understanding of social platforms
  • Must have proficient knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok
  • Experience with paid reach campaigns and consumer journey funnels
  • Direct to Consumer eCommerce Experience (Shopify platform knowledge)
  • Understanding and application of data driven approach
  • Motivated and a self-starter
  • Exceptional communication, organizational & priority setting skills
  • Strong written and communication skills. Bilingual (French) is an asset

March 2, 2022 (Calgary, AB) — Today the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA) has announced that September 8-11 will be the official dates for Country Music Week 2022. Culminating with the 2022 CCMA Awards on September 11, Country Music Week 2022 will see the CCMA returning to Calgary for the tenth time, making the market the most visited by the coveted national Awards show.

“The decision to return to Calgary was not a difficult one to make,” said CCMA President, Amy Jeninga. “Our local Host Committee is so incredibly supportive, the city’s ongoing promise to elevate and celebrate the arts aligns perfectly with our overall mandate as an organization and Alberta country music fans are some of the most dedicated fans we’ve seen. We cannot wait to get back to Calgary for what we know will be an incredible week of celebration!”

Recognized as an emerging music city, country music is in Calgary’s roots. “Hosting Country Music Week and the Canadian Country Music Awards is a great opportunity to showcase Calgary as a music city,” says Ben Graham, Chair of the local CCMA Host Committee.  “Our emerging music scene has been growing and thriving over the last 10 years with the building of new music venues, festivals and attractions.
