GORD BAMFORD AND EMERSON DRIVE TO PERFORM AT CCMA AWARDS August 18, 2009 (Toronto, ON) August 18, 2009 – The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) is pleased to announce the addition of Gord Bamford and Emerson Drive to the list of performers at the 2009 CCMA Awards. Broadcast nationally on CBC TV with encore airings on CMT in Canada, the 2009 Canadian Country Music Awards are scheduled to take place in Vancouver, BC on September 13 at GM Place.
2008’s Top New Male Talent of the Year, Gord Bamford, scored four CCMA Award nominations including Single of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, CMT Video of the Year, and Male Artist of the Year. In the way he lives his life and in the way he writes his songs, Gord brings a unique outlook to his music in which his heartfelt sincerity can instantly be heard.
The success of Emerson Drive grew out of a dream that began in lead singer Brad Mates’ hometown of Grande Prairie. A selfless camaraderie has kept them united through the years and a tireless work ethic continues to make them one of country’s busiest bands. Nominated for Group or Duo of the Year, Emerson Drive has secured its place as a premiere band in contemporary Country music with the release of their fourth album, Believe.
In addition to Gord Bamford and Emerson Drive, the two-hour review of a year in country music will be hosted by Jason Priestley and will feature performances by Reba McEntire, George Canyon, Terri Clark, Doc Walker, Jessie Farrell, Martina McBride, Aaron Pritchett, and Johnny Reid.
