Job Description

The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) is a federally chartered non-profit professional organization whose purpose is to protect the heritage and advocate the development and growth of Canadian country music domestically and internationally. The association's Board of Directors and staff is comprised of some of the industry's top professionals who are challenged with the responsibility of bringing national attention to Canadian country artists.

The CCMA is seeking an Executive Director. This position needs a visionary who can see the big picture of the CCMA and the music industry. Your number one objective will be to develop and maintain revenue streams through sponsorship opportunities, fundraising initiatives and grants. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain the annual budget. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board, you will lead the CCMA office staff whose main objective is to organize Country Music Week and our CCMA membership. This is truly an exciting and challenging position.

Under the authority of the CCMA Board of Directors and in accordance with established policies and procedure, the Executive Director would assume the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Direct the overall operations, budgets and assets of the organization
  • Develop and maintain revenue streams through sales/sponsorships, fundraising initiatives, and government grants
  • Manage all permanent, part-time and contract staff and volunteers
  • Promote the organization to the membership and general public, and manage the image of the organization in a senior public relations role
  • Develop and maintain professional liaison with all levels of government and with the music community.
  • Work with our Broadcast partner(s) and the Board T.V. Committee to ensure the success of the annual CCMA Awards.
  • Assist the Board in the development and implementation of long-term goals and objectives for the organization

Skills and Desired Experience:

  • Proven success in the area of sales or securing sponsorships for a not-for-profit organization
  • Proven management and administrative skills, including a basic understanding of financial matters
  • Knowledge and experience in the area of arts/music, culture or heritage
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills
