LLS Country Music Marathon Needs Your Support!

FAST FACTS

WHAT:

On April 24, 2010, the Country Music Marathon™ & ½ Marathon will be held in Nashville, Tennessee. It is the largest Country lover event of the year for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. The race course showcases country music enthusiastic in Nashville. The course begins at Centennial Park, ending and celebrating in LP Field. LP Field outlines a beautiful view of downtown Nashville. All finishers will receive a mylar blanket, finisher’s medal and plenty of food, refreshments and entertainment to keep the party alive.

WHO:

 

In 2009, Team In Training® raised $950 million for the Society. Making us one stop closer to raising $1 billion for blood cancer research. TNT is the world’s largest endurance sports training program. Participants receive personalized coaching, training clinics, the support of a team, accommodations and airfare, and a personal fundraising web page. In return, participants raise money to support the Society’s mission to cure blood cancer and improve the lives of patients and their families.

WHY:

To help fund research to find new treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and provide critical education and support to patients and families battling these cancers. In 2008, the Ontario Region Chapter participated in the Country Music ½ Marathon and raised over $42,000 for the event. 

ABOUT THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training® is the largest endurance sports training program in the world. It includes training for marathon and half marathon runs and walks, triathlons and century (100) mile bike rides. Participants raise funds to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma – and in exchange, they receive free, professional coaching, training clinics and the support and camaraderie of a team.

Team In Training® is not just for athletes. People of all ages, from novices to seasoned athletes, participate in Team In Training®. Non-athletes succeed in our program with the help of personalized coaching and a supportive and friendly team environment. Everyone participates in honor of a patient, which provides a strong motivation to succeed.
