The CCMA is very proud of the success that Canadian country artists have achieved both nationally and internationally and the Country Talent Development Fund (CTDF) has supported many of these artists in the early years of their careers. The fund was developed to promote a national country star system and was created as a way for radio stations to help grow country music in Canada, in an economical, effective and efficient manner.
The Country Talent Development Fund supports the following programs and events at Country Music Week each year:
New Artist Showcase
FanFest
Gospel Showcase
Country Music Week showcase opportunities, including the New Artist Showcase, FanFest and the Gospel Showcase provide an opportunity for professional development; showcase the highest caliber of Canadian country music talent; provide an opportunity to heighten public awareness and increase audience appreciation for Canadian country music. These showcases are attended by community as well as industry representatives from record companies, booking agencies and radio, to name a few.
Songwriters' Café
Guitar Pull
The Songwriters' Café and the Guitar Pull focus on one of the most important elements of the Canadian country music industry - the craft of songwriting. These events offer songwriters the opportunity to share their songs and the stories behind them. The Songwriters' Café features acoustic performances by a variety of artists - some of them major stars, some of them up-and-comers, but all of them, songwriters steeped in the craft of their profession. The Guitar Pull showcases the #1 smash hits of country and lets us all in on the story of how these songs were written.
Industry Brunch & Awards
Gala Dinner & Awards
The Industry Brunch & Awards as well as the Gala Dinner & Awards are two high-end social events that provide an opportunity to interact with the who's who of the entertainment industry. Awards being presented to honour key individuals within the country music industry, inductions being made into the prestigious Hall of Fame and multiple performances by star artists are what makes these two events a ‘must attend' during Country Music Week.
The CTDF is an eligible third party fund as recognized by the CRTC.
